5.8L specs and Fuel Tank question

I am Brandone--just joined the board. I have a 1994 red 2.5L 5-speed Jeep Cherokee 4x4 (my baby) and on the recent passing of my grandfather have just inherited a 1988 Ford F-250 with a 5.8L.

The Cherokee I know like the back of my hand, but the F250 is a horse of a different color. First of all, what are the basic specs of the 5.8L? What are some common quirks of this beast? It's geared lower for towing, but that's about all I know.

Also, if I start the engine with the rear tanks active, it seems to flood. I have to activate the front tanks, open it wide and lay on the starter. Is this common? I'll save other questions for later :-)

The engine specs for that year and size engine are....

Horsepower 210
Torque (lb-ft) 310
Displacement (cc) 5753
Bore X Stroke (in.) 4.00 X 3.50
Compression Ratio 8.8:1

I would start with a fuel pressure test on both tanks to see if there is a diffrence.

Thank you!

I haven't noticed any loss of power when on the rear tank, but I've only driven it on the highway so far, and mostly used the front. I'll pick up a pressure gauge and check that out.
