I'm gonna be looking at a 79 Ford regular cab with 4 wheel drive and Dana 60s. Its a 4 speed v8 that runs. What questions should I ask and what things should I specifically look for in this year truck aside from the obvious? Thank you all

 

How long has the sell owned the truck?
Has the truck seen an major repairs ei: Traffic accidents, Drive train repairs... replacement engine or tranni or T case?
Is there a record of a maintenance program or receipts of maintenance or repairs?
Why is he selling it now?

 

A truck that old is going to be a gamble......expect some problems with it. If it seems to run and drive good, you are way ahead. One thing I do remember about them is that the front hubs seized up if not switched on and off regularly. I used to take my mid 70s Chevys front end apart yearly, check all "U" joints etc

Love those old trucks,,,,they rode rough, but were super tough....post some pics if you get it
