Question 89 F250 7.5L tune up parts

We are having starting issues, as in NO start, with our truck. We found some corrosion on 1 spark plug wire and the coil wire at the distributor cap. We thought we would start with replacing the distr. cap and rotor. Currently Motorcraft is what is on the truck. That brand is much pricier than others. What brand would be a 2nd or 3rd choice to use? What brand would we want to avoid altogether? When we use the truck it is only for the summer months and less than 1500 miles at that. It is getting gas, it just doesn't want to start. Any ideas you can throw this way would be great.

well ether is a start, if its not, and you could go with oe parts, just because you have after market doesnt mean you cant go back to oe either. start there and also could be your battery or alternator not producing enough cold cranking amps or recharging your battery. theres a start for ya hope it helps.

i always feel OE is the way to go. as far as parts to stay away from I would stay away from all AUTOLITE products.

Does the engine turn over at all ??
