ac problems

ac is blowing hot air, I have checked the pressure and fuses. Could it be the compressor? how would you check it?

check the A/C clutch first

Does the A/C clutch engage when you turn the A/C on?

Unfortunately it does not, probably the compressor. Is there a way to check it?

Clutch

From my experience, if the clutch does not engage then the whole compressor gets replaced. There might be a way the replace just the clutch and then try it but that I do not know how to do. As for checking the compressor, you cant tell if the compressor is actually compressing if the clutch does not engage. :(

The ac clutch came apart so I have to replace the compressor and accumalator, dealer wants $1000 to do it, I will do it myself for less than half that.

wow

Seems like you could replace the whole thing for far less than that .

I think I might go out and buy some parts for my truck and store them till they are needed . It seems to me that parts and even affordable mechanics are getting harder to come by .

Hey, if you can, maybe take pictures of the process and post them. It would be interesting to see how it is done :D.

Good Luck!

I ended up taking to a local mechanic, he only charged me $600 for the whole thing.
