Did I Just Mess Up?
Having towed a trailer with my 99 F250 V10 for 7 years, I decided the next truck would be an F350 diesel. This week an opportunity came when our credit union repoed an 2006 F350 dually that was loaded plus.
I felt really good until a friend said, "Better learn to live with a company called Bullet Proof". Checking their web site it became clear that they are in the business of fixing oil heating problems. Should I start saving $2,000 for a cooler make-over now? I'm towing a 34 foot 5th wheel and Utah does have mountains everywhere. |
Those 6.0 motors don't have the best reputation. They are strong pullers, but from what I hear they are known to blow head gaskets from stretched head bolts and EGR coolers failing. There is an EGR bypass kit that eliminates that issue though. I have also heard if you leave them stock without power adders the head bolts seem to last a lot longer. Good luck with it!
