Ford 6L Diesel questions

Looking for opinions please. I've got the opportunity to purchase a 2008 F350 dually diesel 6L with 180k miles on it.

Good shape, no rust, no major issues or accidents.

I'm getting mixed reviews of quality of this truck. Few guys say 6.0 are junk. Others tell me it's a diesel and will last me forever regardless as long as I take care of it. I'm not planning on trading this truck, this is going to be a drive it till I blow the motor, I want to get the full 600,000 to a million miles out of it.

It will be used as a regular truck, and to pull our 30ft camper during summer. I won't be driving a lot in the winter.

My thoughts are, it's a diesel, it's a workhorse. I won't be using it to it's full capacity, it'll live a life of vacation as it won't even notice the 30ft camper back there. So I'll never be pushing it to it's limits. We don't live in the city, so when I do drive it not pulling there isn't a lot of city stop and go out here. (I read a guys review once that said to drive it in 3rd gear in the city under 50 to keep it from shifting constantly?)

Don't want a gasser, I want a diesel as I don't want to trade out a truck every 6 years or so when I reach 300,000 miles. I want a truck I can just keep, a truck I know it's issues and fix them when they arise, and keep going.

So is the 6.0 a decent truck and is this just the guys I've asked have their likes and dislikes, or is it they are junk and will be breaking down constantly?

Thanks all!
