Misfire Problem

I have a 2001 F250 with the 6.8L V10. My truck has 177300 on it. I had all the plugs and coils changed a couple weeks ago but I am still getting codes that say that cylinder 3,4 &7 are misfiring. Have brought it in to a couple repair shops they have checked for vacuum leaks they have checked the coils the problem clears up for several days then it comes back. Has anyone had this problem before.

misfire

* The firing order is : 1-6-5-10-2-7-3-8-4-9 The 1 thru 5 cylinder are from front to back on the passenger side while 6-10 are from front to rear on the drivers side.
* You have cylinders 3, 4 and 7 misfiring

* the only common component I can think of is the spark distribution

* or maybe you have three bad wires

I was thinking the wires I was hoping someone would say it was something else I hate wiring problems because it can lead to other problems

distributer?

I am not familure with the spark distribution for the V10. Does it use the traditional cap and rotor or is it computer controlled
(i.e. distributerless)???
I ask because maybe the fix is in the distirbution. If there is a cap and rotor, try checking those and maybe replacing just to see if it fixes it.

I was looking and found this web page about the Triton series in general

One more thought. Autozone has a reference library online and I found this on ignition systems there; Ignition System

Good luck :cool:

I have the coil over plug not the distributor. I am a mechanic friend when we come in from work next month we are going to pull the engine out and go through it we will find the reason for the problems thanks for your help
