Does anyone know how to make a 87 speedo work with a 93 7.3 motor ???? i can figure it out. Please help!!!!!!

 

The truck you have used a cable to run the speedo and the 93 if I remember is electronic. Do you still run your tranny and transfer case or is the whole drivetrain out of the 93. Auto or5spd? Let me know.You will get alot of hits on this site but nobody likes to answere or they just don't know thinking they do so be careful.

 

The 93 is electronic and sends codes to the tranny and motor.(ecu) I know the 93 is the pre powerstroke which was started in 94 but not called a powerstroke until 95. which in 94 was all electronic but alomost all cars and trucks made from 92 and up are electronic with gages.you would have to get the guts from a 93 or to 98 and pull the dash for the speedo and get the brain that runs itbut you will not be able to sell the truck unless to a buddy or run your old gear behind the 93 motor and go back to the cable. Their might be some setup's from advance adapters but you will pay a high price for it. I have an 89 350 but run the 7.5 as it got the same fuel milage and I like the big block better (just my prefrence) I have an opertunity to put the 460 into a newer style for with the 6spd so I know everything would work but I am going to restore the 89 as they are becomming distinct and nobody here can answere a question I posted. I thought it would be a neat swap. The V10 blew it got 6 miles to the gallon and the 460 I get 12 unloaded of course. But I will stay with the old gale. Good luck with your troubles.
