thinking of selling 2001 F250 7.3L

Hello! Newbie to this forum. However, I need some opinions.

I have a 2001, F250 4x4 Lariat, Crewcab, longbed pickup, with the 7.3L Diesel (yes, that is a great engine). Pretty much stock, except it does have a rebuilt Jasper transmission in it (3 yr, 100,000 mile warranty, has about 10k on that tranny). The truck has about 165,000 miles on it. I have no complaints about the truck. I now use it somewhat sparingly, to tow a boat (BW, about 1500 lbs) and a small (25 ft) 5th wheel. Both are WAY under its towing capacity.

I believe I may be able to sell this truck and buy a 3/4 on gas Chevy or Ford that would the same job, in this economy. The new truck only has about 40,000 miles on it, and would cost me about 10-12K over what I can sell my Ford for.

downsides: Going from diesel to gas. Cost of $10-12K to make the conversion. Less gas mileage

upside: the new truck would have about 120,000 fewer miles on it, and have a warrenty up to 100,000 miles.

comments? Thoughts?

Honestly, If you like the truck you have and it runs good, keep it.
If its worn out, I'd probably make the swap.

I'm kinda leaning that way as well. Thanks, guys for the comments. I'll wait and see if other have anything to say, but I suspect I'll keep what I got.

Thanks!
