Default warping rotors on 2000 f350 superduty

Good day all,

I have a 2000 f350 4 wheel drive superduty with the 5.4 motor. The first 50,000 miles I experienced zero brake problems. The last 50,000 miles I've had the rotors turned until replacement was required. Then turned the new rotors when they warped. My mechanic says I'm riding the brakes and overheating the rotors. My driving style has not changed since the truck was new, I don't ride the brakes. I asked my mechanic if the calipers could be bad. He says they don't go bad. The problem is not the warped rotors, what ever the problem is, the warped rotors are the result.Any ideas that could help?

Thanks,

Hey Scott: I am experiencing the same problem, I replaced my front tires and had the rotors mic'ed and all seems in order. I have a 2002 f350 superduty 4x4 duel rear wheel crewcab. I have heard that the front springs on the 4x4's are real weak from the factory and the steering damper sucks so this may be contributing to our problem. My brother is a master mechanic and ASE certified and he is stumped aswell. When I brake it really feels like the rotors are bent but I cant find the problem. I plan to install the Rancho 2.5 inch leveling kit and fron springs to stiffen up the front and maybe eliminate the warped feeling in the brakes.

Good luck

while working as a tech, it was amazing how many of the bigger trucks, not just fords, had issues with rotors....al of the 3500 dodges/chevys and 350 and up fords always have issues with excessive warping and rotor wear...mostly due to the amount of weight and the high center of gravity of the vehicle...do you guys tow with your truck?

I think there is little you can do other than routine brake serivce, the leveling kit make help a little, there is a lot of weight with F-350, drive slow

My 2000 Excursion had the same problem, it occured and got worse everytime I went off roading, we believe the problem was from moisture on the rotors. So I got new Rotors, and after it rained or i washed it, I made sure to get in there and clean it off... this could be a pain, but i did sell i for my price.
