Bit of a starting/idle problem with 2.9 Ranger

Got a 88 Ford Ranger 2.9 F.I. with 156K miles. New plugs, wires, cap/rotor, fuel/oil/air filters, new thermostat, no check engine light, don't burn oil and blew the doors off emissions test.

Starts ok when cold and restarts really nice if not sitting for more than 10 minutes or so, but if it sits a little while it is hard to start. Cruises and accelerates real nice, but when at Idle it will die (stumble) a little every 10 seconds or so and "rarely" it will almost die.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I took off the "throttle position sensor" and checked it out and it seemed ok and then I put it back. After that the truck stopped surging. It seems when I put it back on and worked the spring loaded parts getting it on made it operate normally again. One of the minor bugs fixed.

It is still a bit hard starting after it sets awhile after it is warmed up otherwise it starts up just fine. Now to figure out why it is hard starting. The other minor bug.
