'01 silverado gears
 

does anyone know what size gears come stock on an01 silverado 4wd? i got a clunking when i go from park to reverse, and i think that i narrowed it down to being slack in my front end. Any advise?

chevy has alot of slack in the drivetrain of these trucks .i have heard of people puting buncee balls in the end of the drive shaft where it go's in to the trans and it seems to fix it .;)

o bi the way 3.73s are the stock gears for the z71

depending on motor size, 342or 373

I know in 2000, they had 3.42's for Z71's. My buddy had the same clunking in the front end and it turned out to be his U joint. Try turning the driveshaft by had and see if you can get a better idea of where it's coming from. Also, all 1/2 tons have the 12 bolt.
