2005 3/4 ton - Noise in front differentioal
 

I just bought a 2005 2500 HD and the front differential makes an intermittent "bang" when I'm driving through crusty snow.

I've had an 80's differential with lockouts apart but have no experience with one of thew newer trucks. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be on this truck and is there a cheap way to fix it? It seems to happen mainly when the truck is pulling hard -not all the time.

I thought it sounded like this noise was coming from the right side, but I might be wrong about that.

OH - I'd sell the truck for just $6700 if anyone would like to buy it. I'm in Northern Illinois, but would help with shipping if you're not local.

You have obviously found the season this guy had the truck up for sale.
I would start buy looking after the important part. Make sure your ring and pinion isn't getting trashed by something floating around in the diff.
Take the cover off for an inspection, it wouldn't hurt to do the fluid change anyways
