350 engine
Hope someone can help me here. I bought a 1970 chevy c10 with a 350 engine. I want to ID the engine. I tried to get the number off of the block under the alternator. It looks as if someone has beat the numbers off. Whether deliberately???? Anyway. The only thing I a can get off of the pad looks like TMH or TMll. The only other I can get is 095 or 093. Not much to go on, but all I can get. Thanks for any help.

The block casting number on small block and big block Chevy V8 motors is located on a ledge found at the rear of the block, most often on the driver's side. This ledge is below the deck of the block and the ledge forms the mating surface between the block and the transmission bellhousing.

What do you mean "ID it" If it's a 1/2 ton it's a 2 bolt main. What else is there toi know about it? |
Identifying your engine with the engine code system provides a lot of valuable information.
And some not so valuable to the owner. It will tell you the Month and Year the engine was built. It will tell you the location (GM plant) the engine was built It will tell you the projected hp and exact cubic displacement of that block This is not real important info but depending how attached you are to your power plant or how attached you are to your truck... it kind of nice to know the history of that block |
350 engine
Thanks In2Trux for your info. It did help me. My engine according to the numbers was built/ used between 1969 and 1979. Again thanks for your help.
