I have the front differential out of my 98 Tahoe. I am rebuilding it, but I am having trouble getting the drivers side (short shaft) axle out. I have the diff, case open - the passengers side axle assembly is removed - the pinion nut is loosened - but the carrier will not lift out of the case. I assume it's because the drivers side axle shaft is still in. How do I remove the (short) axle - or - how do I remove the ring gear diff. carrier?
