Question 88 chevy scotsdale missed for a week and will not start at all now..HELP

Hi, I have a 1988 chevy scotsdale K1500 4x4 with 5.7L 350 a couple weeks ago i was coming home from work and i noticed it had a serious miss....then all of a sudden it shut down....so i figured it just needed a tune-up. so i took plugs out and cleaned them along with the cap, put in a new rotor button, and new plug wires...went to start it..nothing, so i checked the spark at coil and plugs...both were getting spark, so at that point i thought the control module was heating up and cutting out, so i replaced it....still same prob, when i hit the ingnition will not start, but when i let off..it kinda backfires white smoke up through the TBI, it is getting gas, when i turn the key on i get the initial squirt, but after i have tried to start it a few times it acts like its getting to much gas! any help would be greatly appreciated greatly!!!!!!
