Default 98 z71 power steering issue

I have 98 Z71. A couple weeks ago I was turning around and the power steering just quit. I check the fluid and it had plenty. Never whined like most do when they are going out. Makes me think its not the pump itself. I hate to buy a pump and change it if thats not the issue. Ever since bought the truck, I noticed in sharp corners the truck would sometimes over steer (felt like it just went loose). Any ideas?

Remove the belt and see if you can pull the pulley on the pump forward (like your trying to pull it out of the pump). I bet you sheared the shaft off that the pulley rides on. I did the same thing to my last 97 Z-71. They do not like to be turned all the way to the lock position. Especially the aftermarket cheap pumps.
