ABS light

Hey, New here. But have a question, a few weeks ago I got my truck stuck on a road drifted with snow. After all was said and done the ABS light came on the dash. Everything still works fine, etc. Just wondering what sensor I might of messed up or something. truck is a 2005 Chevy silverado 4x4 1500

You got snow in one of your wheel ABS moduals. If you can, park your truck in a heated garage over night.

I've had it come on from snow in one of the wheel sensors as well. Try parking it overnight in a heated garage, and seeing if that does the trick.

If a night in the garage doesn't fix the prob... It probably got dirty from the snow and moisture or it got screwed

Good thing is, they are easy to change, and pretty cheap.

As stated before you should thaw the truck out and then do a visual inspection. It is possible a ABS sensor wire was broken or torn loose. If everything is intact you could unplug the sensor wires, clean with contact cleaner then pack with dielectric grease. If light still stays on you need to have it scanned to find out exactly why the light is coming on, could be just a bad sensor or something totally not related that was a coincedence that the light came on then.

Good luck and report back on what you find.

Thanks for all the replies, turns out Diesel Dan was right. looks like one of my tire chains "broke" a wire got it fixed and the light went off. Appreciate all the help. While I am here though. I keep getting "service 4wd" I only seen the light once. Then I turned the truck off and restarted it and haven't seen it again until recently. Now everytime I go down a dirt road (everyday) thats 'rough'; the "service 4wd" light comes on and all the illimination goes off on the selector switch. I have ruled out the selector switch, so I am thinking maybe a loose ground??? But don't know exactly where to look. Or any other ideas you guys have. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for all your help so far,

Jake

Check all the wiring under the truck.
Other than that I've had no experience with the service 4wd faults.

I'm getting the same fault on my DIC "SERVICE 4WD"
This topic deserves it own thread.
