I have a 1995 Jimmy charging problem 4.3 it was working fine and just stopped charging i think can boost it and will run till it kills the bat can any one tell me how to check the alt to see if it is charging. If it is working is there anything i should look at. ty Just had a look seems like the in dash voltmeter is reading 0?sry to all found my problem i guess my plow draws to much power burnt wire on back of fuse paneljust lucky to find it when checking fuse ty all

 

You can take a meter and get a reading from the power wire to the housing of the alt. It should be over 14.60 or so. Another thing to is that you can try an amp clap with a meter or go to an auto store with the alt and the can tell you with there machine is the alt. is doing its job.
