Fuel issues on 83 one ton 454
 

hey guys,

where would you start if you had these issues on a 1983 Chevy one ton 3+3 with a 454/automatic?

It has been sitting a long time now, but...before it was sitting dormant I took it on a swap. I was driving it 10 mi home and it died. Dead. Towed it home, determined it was fuel issues, rebuilt the carb. New fuel pump on the block. Fires up when you pour gas in the carb, dies. Cant find an inline fuel filter, checked under the frame rails.

Am not familiar with the truck, crawled under passenger side mid frame and found an odd item with fuel lines going into it and coming out of it, lots of wiring, and has a broken wire. Diagrams seem to indicate it MIGHT be a fuel balance something or other. I will of course attempt to fix the broken wire and try it again, but what is that unit on the frame, is it a fuel relay?

Also, I know that it isn't uncommon for the turn switch that you choose which fuel tank to use can go bad too. Is there a simple way to id if that is the problem, or "a" problem? Just route around it with a fuel line or ?
