I baught this 1990 ss from my uncle and he rebuilt this as a 355 and the 5-sped also has 500 or so miles on them. well he pulled the engine ouy cause the oil pump gauge read low and its a nice csb about 400hp, he had stroke and cant even talk so anyways i put a new oil pump on it and the old one had gasket sealer in the screen area. so its in there but i got a few problems... it wont turn over well it did once but was rough and some whiteish smoke let out manifolds then oyu carb when i shut it off. secondly it seems like the battery is dead but i put a new 1 in and it already had new starter. no matter if i jump it or whatever its the same. am i missing a ground some where or what? how many wires go to alt. and to starter? im not sure if it needs something i dont know cause of the switch from newer engine to old school. and does my tranny need special wireing or is it good. when i turn my key all lights are bright but engine draggs really slow. i hope im not asking to much but i took all my vacation so i ha d 13 days so far and still cant figure it out. but its my first project this big and i was made to promise id do it on my own thanks alot mike
