Default Roll starting a 1998 Chevy 1500

I have a 1998 Chevy 1500 with a manual transmittion. When I try to roll start it (roll and pop the cltuch in gear with the key on) I can't seem to get it to start and keep running. It will want to start but just will stall out after a second or so. Does this have something to do with the fuel injection or fuel pump? My father's got a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 and his will start fine if you roll start it.It would just be nice to know why this happens if I ever have a failing battery or if the starter goes in it. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks.

Sounds to me like you're just not rolling quick enough. There shouldn't be a problem starting it as long as the truck is rolling quick enough.
