running problems

Default running problems

i have a 89 z71 4x4 that starts and idles rough when cold,then idles to fast when it warms up...anybody got any ideas?

Howdy, one44magnum. The throttle position sensor (tps) has gone bad from your description.

89? tps wasnt introduced till 04 I believe, argon could shed more light on that. Check your basics first, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, wires, injectors?

TPS was introduced in 1987 on pickups...

as for the problem..it may be overfueling...maybe a map hose....any codes/?

Thanks for that info, I heard someone else mention the tps before, and ive never seen a tps on a pre 04 truck.

any pcm controlled engine has a tps...throttle body pickups...even older caprices and stuff with carbs
