security-no start

My 2000 Silverado K1500, 5.3 auto wouldn't start earlier this week. It would fire then die instantly. It would do this when the engine was warm and also several hours later, but the next day started normally. Yesterday the same thing happened again. No start, but today it runs. The computer scan shows a 1360 security code set. What can be done to eliminate this problem? The alarm system is unnecessary to me as I seldom even lock the truck in this rural community. The truck has 70K miles and is out of warranty.</P>

RE: security-no start

Ok, here is a long shot, does your igntion key have a chip on it, if so could be killing fuel pump after a couple of seconds, and if that chip is defective or wet (sweat exc...) it can set a security code I think, via the security is wired to fuel pump not starter. Just a thought, hope it helps. If it is the problem grab a wiring diagram(all data, mitchels, chiltons, haynes exc.) and see if you can bypass it.

RE: security-no start

Thats a passlock fault, it's in the owners manual and explains it a little better than I can.

Basically turn your key to on but don't start the engine and after about 10 minutes the security light will go from flashing to a steady light and then you should be able to start the truck.
