Shift display on a 2K Tahoe

Hi, noobie here. I just picked up a 2,000 Tahoe. The ride is real clean. The gear indicator and odometer are electronic. The display has gone out three or four times. Where it goes then comes back I would assume this speaks to a short somewhere? Has anybody had the same experience?

Thanks.

Sounds spendy. It hasn't done it for a few days. Do they tend to stay hit and miss or get progressively worse? When you say cluster do you mean the whole display, speedo, tach, all the rest of the guages including the information center? Where the guages, speedo and tachare analog, at least in the way they display, would you still have to replace the whole thing or can just the shift/odo be addressed?

Thanks.

Thanks guys. Sounds like my only option is to wait until it goes out for good then see what I can do to replace it.
