The rockers don't have a torque spec you have to adjust them manually. Hopefully you can make out this picture of the head bolt tightening sequence. I attached a picture of it. Here is the torque spec for the head bolts...
First Step: 25 Ft LBS Second Step: 45 FT LBS Third STep: 65 FT LBS Good Luck! |

awsome!! thanks man, makes life alot easier. now on the rockers, some one told me to put the push rods in and then the rocker arm and use two fingers to spin the push rod while tightening the nut on the arm till there is no spin on the push rod then turn another half turn and that should be good. but i was also told to torque them to 20 ft lbs.
|
No definitely don't just torque them down. Bring #1 to TDC and adjust as you described above except you want to tighten until you cannot spin the push rod with your fingers and then tighten it an addition full turn. With #1 at TDC you can adjust the following...
Exhaust - 1, 5, 6 Intake - 1, 2, 3 Now rotate the crank one full revolution and adjust... Exhaust - 2, 3, 4 Intake - 4, 5, 6 Hope this helps! Good Luck! |
well i got the valves and **** done and the engine put back together. tried to start it last night and it didnt the starter engages and the motor turns over but the problem is it doesn't sound like it has much compression and i say that cuz the sound the starter makes is a high rpm sound like there isnt much resistence
|
got it figured out a little more. the valves are all good now but my timing is off well it is but not by much the motor keeps flooding its self out now
|
ok got it running. whatch out ford boys theres another chevy on the road to tow you away. lol. thankx for all the help
