Hey guys im new on here but i need some real help, i have a 94 silverado z71 4 wheel drive and my problem is when i bought the truck from a buddy the reverse kind of slipped and i drove it like that for the last year and then about a month ago the reverse finally quit, when i put the truck in reverse i can feel it kick in but its like its still in nuetral, every other gear in the truck works beautiful no slips or bangs in drive or overdrive and shifts properly and very smooth, reverse is the only gear that is working, i put the truck up on my lift and checked the linkage and it all seems good and its working, it has to be something inside the transmission, so if anyone on here knows what could be wrong or have had this happen please let me know i would appreciate it alot! thanks

 

sounds like you burnt up reverse...........looks like a rebuild is needed........its the best bet

 

yeah i think so but the part i dont get it that people told me even chev mechanics that if my reverse doest work my drive and overdrive shouldnt work either

 

Not true...reverse uses its own clutches and steels it is its own clutch pack...any one who told you that does not know what they are talking about
