i have a 91 chevy 350 what should i do for exhaust if i want to make it LOUD!!! cheap if possible

dual exhaust with flowmasters makes it LOUD. if you can find a shop that will weld in parts that you bring in. you can just get them off of ebay for a reasonable price that isnt majorly marked up.

It depends , where you get most of your grunt is from the headers .. I have a 1989 chevy k1500 , with a 355 small block i built at school , and i just recently bought a set of headers from dyno max , the long tube style, i plan on duelin the exhaust , and usin a set of super turbos , cause the flow is limited . but i had a 350 in my last vehicle , it was a 1990 s10 blazer , i had a set of headman hedders (shortties) with resinators ...i think it was 2"3/4 , with 3" tips , and it rocked , no ford could compete ...lol i wouldnt worrie about size of the exhaust pipe to much , dont listne to anyone who says you want back pressure , they dont know jack.. who wants exhaust goin back into the engine , the whole idea of an exhaust is to rid it from the motor , not brin it back ....lol hope i could help

nope not all, if engines didnt require back pressure to idle then exhaust would come free flowing from the factory

what is back pressure ??? a small restrictio to hold exhaust gas in teh motor??? or t warm up the engine ??? i am quit familiar with hydraulics and i know what pressure is and im sure buildin pressure in an engine is not a good thing , unlees its in the cylinders

i just put headers on my 87, along with 2 flowmaster super 40s with turn downs right behind the cab. thats pretty loud...

Backpressure usually refers to the pressure exerted on a moving fluid by obstructions or tight bends in the confinement vessel along which it is moving, such as piping or air vents, against its direction of flow. For example, an automotive exhaust muffler with a particularly high number of twists, bends, turns and right angles could be described as having particularly high backpressure . Back Pressure in the exhaust sense of the term, is usually termed as being a "bad thing" for performance...

Any-hoo.... If you think about the way a four stroke engine works, on the exhaust stroke, the exhaust is pushed out as the piston is driven upward in the cylinder. The amount of force required to drive the piston upward has to come from somewhere, right??? It comes from the other pistons being forced down by the pressure generated by combustionon the power stroke of the other cylinders... The faster the pistons can move without resistance, the faster the crankshaft can revolve, which makes more power... On stock vehicles, a free-flowing exhaust will yeild minimal gains... On modified vehicles that have more cylinder pressure, a free-flowing exhaust will not only yeild significant gains, but is very crucial to the efficiency of the engine...
