Folded frame at the cab and box 1999 Chevy Silverado ext

Good day, a newbie to this.
I would just like some opinions
I have a 1999 silverado ext and the tranny went and had no reverse.
I took the truck to a 30+ a-1 mechanic to have it repaired.
The mechanic hoisted my truck assymetrically with a 2 post hoist and the truck had approx 600lbs + the new transmission in the box. As he raised it the rear end wouldn't pick up and he kept going up and the truck folded.
I'm not a mechanic, should he have told me to empty the truck before raising the vehicle, not only for his safety but also for the concern of the truck folding the way it did.
Please let me know any responses would be greatful.

Thanks, Skaterkid1974, have a good one everyone

My thought

I believe he should of had some concern about the weight for you and himself

I'd guess that he didn't lift the truck properly considering the weight in the bed. Should have used a wheel lift, or lifted it with a heavy duty hoist that can stretch to use the leafspring shackles. I've lifted many trucks and vans that have loads in the back of them. It can be done, and sometimes it's necessary to empty the beds before lifting, but for 600lbs, that's the weight of a couple of people ... I don't think there's a problem there.

Honestly though, if that's all it took to fold the frame, I don't just wonder if the frame was ready to give anyways ... maybe he did you a favor. Is the truck rusty?
