I have a 1983 3/4 ton Chevrolet Crew Cab. Currently it is two wheel drive and I will be turning it into a 4x4. What is going to be the best axles for me? Wanting something good both freeway and in town usage, 4x4 hubs, etc.

 

I think the first thing your gonna want to do is to confirm the gear ratio of your current axle so you can match your new front axle to your rear.
Then start hunting for a doner 1977 to 1987 Chev or GM 4x4

Your gonna want the doner truck for it's Axle and leaf spring mounts, transmission, transfer case, cross members, drive shafts, floor pan hump and shifter.
