New Chevy - oil leak off the lot

Hi All,

Need some opinions beyond "shouldn't have bought a Chevy," just bought a brand new 2015 Silverado LS for my son. Day after I got it drove it work so he wouldn't see it in the driveway when he got home from college. On the highway coming home from work the engine light came on. I pulled over at the closest gas station and the bottom of the truck was sprayed in oil, the oil stick was dry, and I waited two hours for a tow truck. Long story short, the dealership said it had a pin hole in the oil filter and there were four quarts of oil in the pan. They said its a manufacturer problem, not theirs, and as far as they are concerned have done all they can. My friend owns a Toyota dealership and said they would have swapped the truck out for one of the same value, no questions asked. This dealership is giving me the same hard line over and over thinking I'll just give in and take the truck. I don't know if I have any choice besides to vent online.

My question for you all: Do you think in that scenario the engine's longevity has been compromised?

Thanks,
Nick

Isn't it warrantied as a new Chevy trk? Paint a very large sign and mount it on 2"x2" to hold the it in the trk bed holders that says " this dealer refuses to fix an oil leak that I had just purchased in (month) 2015". I'd park the trk at the street curb at the entrance to their dealership. I'll bet you will get some reaction - positive or negative. Stand your ground as you are on a public street.

As to the "engine's longevity" is concerned, IMHO, there are too many variables to say if the engine will have a normal live.

Brand new there is no excuse for that.

No excuse whatsoever. Go to a different dealer until someone is willing to help
