What to get
OK, I know the smartest guys are in this forum so I need your help. I have a 5th wheel RV that weighs 21K and my last truck was a 02 F250 diesel. Had to get rid of that so I now need another truck. What do I get?? Chevy, Dodge or another F-Series? Gas or Diesel? I got almost 18 mpg on the Ford so I need to know on the others. What about the V-10???? Please let me know what you guys think. Thank you!

RE: What to get
Thanks for your help. OK, let's think about getting a used truck. I really don't think the imports will pull that heavy of a 5th wheel. I love the way they look but I really need something to pull and stop. I travel up and down the California grapevine which is nuts. I was thinking a 93-2004 Chevy, 95-2003 Dodge, or 93-2003 Ford. Also been thinking about the V-10 but I don't know anything about it. All your help would be appreciated. Thanks

RE: What to get
I know I am a little late on this, but my great grandparents had a Montana 5th wheel with 4 slide outs that they pulled through the mountains no problem with a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 with a 6.6 liter duramax. We have a 2006 GMC with the duramax and it will pull up to 24000 lbs of dead weight. I'd go with that if I was you

Chevyalltheway, I really appreciate the heads up. I still haven't found a truck but I am in the market to get on really soon. Thanks for your advice.

If you’re towing a 21,000 lb fifth wheel, you’ll need a truck with strong towing capacity. Among the options—Chevy, Dodge, and Ford—diesel engines are generally better for heavy towing. They offer more torque and better fuel economy when hauling large loads.
For example, the Ford F-350 Super Duty with a diesel engine can tow up to 38,600 lbs, while the RAM 3500 and Chevy Silverado 3500 HD can tow up to 36,610 lbs and 36,000 lbs, respectively. These trucks are designed for heavy-duty towing and would be suitable for your needs. Gas engines, like the V10, are less efficient for towing heavy loads. They typically offer lower towing capacities and higher fuel consumption. When I needed a truck, I found a good deal at an online marketplace. It’s a great place to find vehicles, especially if you're looking for something specific |
