1979 ford f-150

I just bought this truck two weeks ago.It has a 351 m fuel injected motor. Idrove it for two weeks and it ran like a beast but I drove it for about 1 hour one day and all of a sudden when I got on it it started popping and backfiring. It has 35" thornbirds which in the first two weeks I could burn out through third gear. I replaced ditributor cap wires and plugs and rotor any thoughts. John
