1992 Chevy 1500

Hey ya,all I have my new son-in-laws 1992 he is deployed and I have done some fixing on his truck. I removed the V6 and have put in a crate 5.7 I'm having trouble with it running rich and not starting like it should I tend to think its the computer I still have the original V6 computer in it. any ideas can I just change out the Chip or do I have to switch out the whole computer

The expression "NOT FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS" comes to mind...
You need to switch out the the ECU to a computer that is compatible to the 5.7

Exactly, u have to switch the ECU. AND- would be best if it were for the same year as your truck with 5.7.
After installation of the ECU, Hook up the battery, let it idle for a few minutes, then drive it in order to allow the computer to recalibrate itself. Drive Interstate for 5 min, 40 - 50mph for a couple spurts, stop and go for another five- then take it home. shut it off, let cool down all the way- Restart and see that i's all fine...
