2005 Z71 - Throttle Body Issue?

Bought a 2005 chevy silverado extended cab Z71 5.3 V8 back in July. Its got 58K on it and is in really good condition. Just got it back from the shop a few days ago, I had an air bag sensor go bad. Few hundred bucks later and its fixed.

I'm now noticing another issue. The acceleration is sticking every now and then. I first noticed it because the truck didnt seem to be slowing down enough when letting off the gas when coming to a stop, sometimes it was worse than others. Thought it was kind of odd but didn't think to much of it untilthe throttle stuck going up and hill and wouldnt slow down until i really got on the brakes. I'm thinking that the throttle body needs to be cleaned, I've read this is a common issue with this engine. Any tips on performing the cleaning? and other problems that could be causing this issue other than the throttle body?

Just to give some background: I do some basic maintenance on vehicles, oil changes, breaks, belts etc. But don't consider myself very experienced when it comes to working on cars.

Throttle Body is probably your best bet.

The throttle bodies on GMs usually require an inspection and more times than not need cleaned. If you take it to your local auto store, they can usually put it on the scope and read the coded problem. Let me know if you need anything else.
