Hey DieselDan,
Thanks lots to think about.

On another forum I mentioned I want to run the truck off of waste vegetable oil, but I was informed that new diesel engines can't handle the wvo.
I was told to find a used older truck.

Oh well, decisions decisions decisions.

Can I get a truck that is SRW but has the fenders? that are wide enough for DRW (incase i want the extra towing capacity?)

Thank you so much Dan!
Cheers mate,
Kevin

Hey Kevin
I would agree with your other forum respondents
With all the pollution control devises on the diesel engines now a days. It wouldn't take long to end up stranded on the side of the 401 from having french fry oil in your take.

A buddy of mine burns vegi oil in his classic Mercedes. There is no pollution control crap on his beauty. He virtually drives his car in the summer for free, with the exception of insurance. But he does put in a lot of hours driving to his list of restaurants that donate their waste cooking oil. Then hours spent treating and filtering the oil to low it's viscosity. Not to mention the space lost in his garage for his treatment equipment and storage of the barrels.
Still... It's is nice to drive right by those fuel pumps as keep your cash in your pocket.
When I was in college I couldn't afford a 70g truck, so a classic diesel would probably be easier to afford

Default Many Thanks.

Thanks again guys.

I'll probably go with the recommendations.

A ford 150 or a gmc 1500.

I need to ask,
which engine should I choose?
5.0L V8 FFV or 6.2L EFI V8

I do want to tow a small trailer hauling water, tents, bicycles, etc. for a festival in the summer.

Cheers mates,
Kevin

Default I think it comes down to these two trucks.

Since GMC/CHEV don't make a crewcab 1500 with the 6'6" box with a 4WD- Or I cant' seem to build on their website does anyone have any experience with either of these trucks in these configurations?

Ram 1500 SXT
quad cab
4X4
6' 4" Box
5.7L V8 Hemi DMS VVT 8-Speed AUTO

or

F-150
SuperCrew
4X4
6'6" Box
6.2L 2V EFI V8 Engine 6-speed AUTO

Thanks for your time and help.
Web info and resources welcomed

Cheers,
Kevin
