Hello all. I thought I would take the opportunity to introduce myself since I am new to the forums.

I used to have an 04 Chevy Colorado Z71 but I sold it about 3 weeks ago because it didn't have enough towing power to handle my horse trailer. Now I'm on the hunt for a new truck (new to me, anyway). I'm not particular on the make or model, as long as it's full-size, extended or crew cab, has 4x4, no rust, and can pull my trailer fine. Oh, yeah, and a power adjustable seat would be excellent too since I'm pretty short.

Right now I'm looking at an 04 Chevy Silverado 2500 but am waiting to find out the price...in the meantime I am driving my parents' 04 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.4L Hemi.

I've been told that I am too picky when it comes to my trucks, but I prefer to think that I just know what I want. I love driving trucks and hope that I can learn more, and get some help, when needed, for whatever truck I decide to get.

I will probably be pulling 5,000-7,000 lbs routinely (during the summer months mostly). If I can find a truck that can handle the goose neck trailer, I might pull that occasionally. I think our GN weighs 9,000 lbs, so add 3 horses to it and it will probably be closer to 12,000 lbs.

Finding something that suits my needs, at a price I can reasonably afford as a college student...that is the difficult part. I really liked the Silverado 2500 HD that I looked at, but I found out today that the owner wants $18k for it. If I could talk him down to half that price I would buy it in a heartbeat, but something tells me that "or best offer" does not mean "half of what I am asking" in this case.

Yeah I think your right about the "best offer" thing. That kind of weight will require a decent truck to move it safely. Not trying to be a salesman here, but I am selling my 2000 Chevy Crew Cab dually if your interested. It is the rare short bed that GM only made in 99 and 2000. Here is a pic if your interested...
