Howdy all, just picked up a truck new to me, a 1985 GMC High Sierra, 1/2 ton 4x4. Runs dual 20 gallon tanks, and also runs on propane, has an 80 gallon tank in bed. Can go a LONG way between fillups. Very little rust, straight excepting a dent in drivers door., needs a lot of TLC cuz was a farm truck, but has 1000 miles on new and very strong 305. Runs like a top, and burns real clean on the propane. Running gear in excellent condition, this truck is going to be great fixer upper.
Spent 15 years turning wrenches, nothing I can't fix on this truck. Have a Edelbrock performer intake ordered, headers also, already has a new Performer Carb sitting on it. With no I/M here in the desert, can modify any way I want to, meaning all that emmissions crap is OFF!
Anyway, look forward to any help that is offered, maybe I can return the favor too.

Welcome to the site, It's not often we find a propane guy. Let us know how that works, I personally know nothing about burning propane, but is it any more efficient than gas?

Welcome aboard. I've never had a propane truck but when I was in high school the lumberyard I worked at had propane delivery trucks. Those 454's ran real clean on propane and had a decent amount of power pulling 30 foot goosenecks loaded with materials. I want to say they were 1980 or 1981 model 3500's. Thanks for making me remember those days.

Not much info on the propane side I can give you, I am just learning myself. In the research I have done, propane burns with about 10% less BTU's than gasoline, so engine runs cooler. Propane has octane at about 110, so higher than gas, more power should be result, and cleaner burning due to that. I have found that I do not get the same mileage, on propane is lower mpg. But with the last fillup at $1.39/gallon, the propane is working great for me!
