New to trucks; looking to purchase
Hi all,
I'm a new member to this forum, and also new to trucks. I'm looking to buy my first truck, but will likely need to find something that is used given my low budget - I can only afford about $30k-$40k maximum, and that would be with financing. I'd ideally like something large, like a GMC Sierra 3500 HD, but I am open to suggestion here. My main requirements are that it must be 4WD and it must be a crew cab. Preferably it would be a long bed, as well. Ultimately I would like something that I can get lifted, as well. I am drawn mainly to GMC and Ram trucks. I am on the fence about Chevy. I'm not interested in Toyota, Nissan, etc. Obviously I'd be more keen on newer vehicles with fewer miles. Are Chevys comparable to GMCs or Rams? I see Chevy's at a lower price point, but wonder what is sacrificed compared to GMC or Ram. Can anyone help me to understand this? I'm also trying to understand what other things I should be looking at to make my decision. What questions should I be asking? And perhaps more importantly, where should I be looking? Thank you! |
Welcome to trucks! For your budget of $30k-$40k and your needs, you can find good used GMC, Ram, or Chevy trucks with 4WD, crew cab, and long beds.
Chevy and GMC trucks are very similar because they share many parts and features. GMC often has more style or extra features, so it can cost more. Ram trucks are different in design and ride feel. Some people like Ram for comfort and strong engines. When you look at trucks, check how many miles they have ,if they have had accidents or damage ,if the 4WD works well, if the truck has been lifted or modified before anf the service history You can also try to find used trucks at online auctions. They often have many trucks in one place. You can see prices and sometimes photos or reports before bidding. |
