New to trucks

I am new to the world of trucks, and am hoping to get my first one sometime in the next couple of months. But I have a question, I have noticed on various sites including youtube that alot of people say that the best trucks are the diesels, is this true? if so, why? Because when it comes to cars I would never touch a diesel, there is way more HP and more torque from petrol and they sound way better.

It is really all personal preference and usage. If you're going to be doing a lot of towing, you cannot beat a diesel. The diesel's tend to be more durable and last longer as well. There's more maintenance involved and fuel prices are higher, but it's all a trade off depending on what you'll be doing with it.

do you say there is more torque with the diesels? I will be getting my first truck soon, but will not be getting a diesel as they are too expensive to run with the diesel taxes.

Oh yeah. With the newer trucks the diesel's put out twice the torque as their gas counterparts.

Powerstroke: 800+ lb ft of torque
Duramax: 780+ lb ft of torque
