noob with tough choice... 0_o

Good to be hear! So ive been lookin & researching trucks recently and narrowed my picks to these 2 choices.... an 83 elco (kinda like a truck) w/305 140k or an 1998 Silverado z71 4x4 with 200k....both look great body wise and interior, engines dont seem to bad either...which one of these would be a better choice...parts, reliabilty, future possible mechanical problems with hi miles etc....

btw, this is what i have planned for the chosen one:

Elco: add 20inch Irocs, paint and speed
Z71: Looking to do some not to serious weekend off roading. add tires, rims and lift, suspensions, engine mods...all over time

Im kinda leaning towards the elco just cuz I owned a 81 yrs ago that had a run in with a big rig...didnt end up to good..anyhow...Thanks for the help Fellas!

It would depend on what you really do with your truck..so a daily driver I would pick the Z71. the el camino looks cool and you dont see them everyday so it would be a nice choice, but without some serious updating your fuel mileage will be terrible and the 80s engines are severely underpowered

Z71 is a solid truck but also with 200k miles you have to make sure the hub assemblies are good and the maintenance was kept up on. the drivetrain is much more reliable than the elco and the fuel mileage will obviously be better with the LS series engine than a 305 with a 4 barrel coupled up with the 3 speed auto
