Truck for BBQ business

Hello everyone, I'm in the market for a used truck under $15,000 that can haul/tow about 2000 lbs for my BBQ business (1,000 lbs smoker/trailer and 1,000 lbs of other equipment, etc.). I have never owned a truck before and am not really sure what to look for. I started out looking at some Toyota Tacomas, but it looks like they might not be able to fulfill my towing needs. I would only be using the truck for my BBQ business (i.e. no off-roading, etc.). Does anyone have any suggestions on specific trucks or features to look for that would fit the bill?

The 1000lbs of equipment... Will that be hauled in the trailer? or in the box of the truck?
Will you need extra cab room?
Regular cab, Extended cab = storage behind front seat, or a Crew cab = 4 door.
Will you need a full 8 foot box or will a shorter wheel base 6 foot box get the job done.

2000lbs can also be nicely towed around with a Tahoe or Yukon or Bronco

Thanks for the reply In2Trux. I am planning to carry the 1,000 lbs of equipment in the bed of the truck and also I really only need a regular cab. I would prefer an 8ft box, but would consider a 6ft.

Are you wanting a Diesel? I would look at a Chevy Silverado, or GMC Sierra 3/4 or one ton, two wheel drive. Should be able to find a good deal on a truck that would suit your needs for that price.

I think even a 1/2 could handle a 1000lbs of cargo in the box and 1000lbs of trailer.
But a 3/4 ton would safely Get R Done for ya. And having $15000 budget will get you a reasonable reliable rig.

Darn you did not have to tell us what you would be hauling. All you needed to say was the weight. Now you made me hungry and now I got go out and find something to eat.

And I don't need anymore blubber on this old body.
