Truck Dies

Does anyone have any idea what can be wrong with my truck? If I am sitting at a stop light and the truck is in gear (Nissan Frontier 1998 4 cylinder), when I press the gas, it dies. If it is out of gear and I press the gas it does not die. Thank you!
