1984 Monte Carlo
 

Ok so I might be getting a 84 Monte Carlo LS with no engine or trans. I'm taking the engine out of a 1980 Chevy Blazer custom deluxeand putting it in the Monte,but have no idea what size engine it is. Question number 1

1) Could I take the front end and the spoiler off a 1984Monte Calo SS and mount the front end on the monte carlo that i might be getting? Its a monte carlo LS

2)Do you guys have any idea what size engine is in that blazer. 1980 Blazer Custom Deluxe. my dad says the old 305s were blue and the old 350s were orange. looks to me the enigine is blue. plus the engine is stock.

Actually from what I have been told from a few older gearheads at the parts store I work at, the older chevy engine paint was optional as far as what color you wanted it. Otherwise they just slapped something on there. Most of the older 350s/305s I've seen were just black. In any event, you can tell by writing down the VIN # and calling up the local Chevrolet dealership with it. Actually if you have an O'reilly Auto Parts they can tell you too.

Also, yes the SS front end will directly swap over to the classic body style. I have such a hard time deciding which front end I like more. The SS looks mean as heck but the classic is mafia/baller lookin too. Either way that's a great choice of car. You'd be happier if you found one that already had an engine in it and was running but if your getting a really good deal I understand. I had an 85' with the 4.3liter in it and I loved that car. The 4.3 had a ton of power in it too. For such a heavy car, with such a weak motor, that thing would fly.

The one thing I'll warn you about is this. The firewall on the passanger side sticks out a lot. I guess that's where the heater core is but I'm not sure. Anyway, that makes working on that thing a royal pain in the buttox. If your planning on hotrodding it, you may wanna look for a way to remove that bulge in the firewall to give you more room to do things like... oh... change the back spark plugs, put the header bolts on, connect the spark plug wires. Yeah there ain't enough room to do that. I cut a whole out of inner fender well to reach mine, LOL!!

Haha yeah it's a great car. I have wanted a Monte Carlo soooo bad you don't even realize. Yeah great I love the looks of the SS style much better than the gangsta style. About the Engine I sure hope that its a 350, that monte would be fast as hell with that 350 in it.
