Clean dash cam installs on trucks — a few notes
Hi everyone,
We work with automotive electronics and also spend a lot of time installing dash cams on trucks for real-world use.
From our experience, hardwiring to an ACC fuse gives the most stable power behavior and keeps the cabin free of loose cables. Routing power along the headliner and down the A-pillar usually results in the cleanest install.
For rear cameras, taking advantage of factory trim channels toward the cab or tailgate helps keep everything hidden and protected. Mounting the camera close to the mirror area minimizes obstruction and works well in taller truck cabins.
Focusing on cable management and proper power sourcing makes the biggest difference in long-term reliability, regardless of brand or model.
