I know this seems like an odd place to put this, but this family needs all the help they can get. Peighton was my best friends niece. Such a terrible thing to happen to such good people. Every little donation helps. Thank you very much for reading.

This fundraiser is set up to help with the extensive cost of medical bills incurred.
Early on Tuesday morning (2/28/12), Peighton was airlifted from Reston hospital to children's National Medical Center in DC (the top children's hospital). After having a severe seizure, it was discovered she had an aneurysm and bleeding in the brain. On the morning of 2/29 she got out of a five hour surgery. They successfully coiled the aneurysm. It was initially determined that all went well with the surgery and the next step was dealing with blood in her brain. She was in stable condition for a few days but was still very sick and vulnerable. Teams of doctors continued to monitor her closely as this is an extremely rare occurrence in newborns. On 03/01/12, Ellis and Zoe received very sad news. Their sweet baby girl's MRI showed significant damage to the entire left side and parts of the right side of her brain. The doctors started to prepare them for the worst by letting them know that she would not have a normal life if she made it out of the ICU. With that said, she was a fighter every step of the way. We were hoping and praying by her side. It is with a heavy heart that we let you all know that Peighton Belen passed away at 8:40 am on March 4, 2012. She went peacefully. We appreaciate all of your thoughts and prayers. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts as we go through the next few days. She will be in our hearts forever. Thank you for sharing this time with us. Peighton sweetie, we love you with all of our hearts. Know that mommy and daddy will always be thinking about you. You have blessed us and our families with your perfect smiles. We love you so so much, baby girl, sweet p. Thank you for your support during these difficult times.
