A 1500 hd is basically a 3/4 ton truck which is a truck designed to pull heavy and haul heavy stuff. It was never designed to have a comfortable ride. I don't know why you would by a 3/4 ton truck...

I will never lower a truck, all it does is limit the capabilities of the truck. Chevys are already too low stock I could never see lowering one. But to each his own.

Should have been changed 50,000 miles ago. I do my tranny, rear end, and transfer case every 40,000. Cost about $75 for a the fluid and tranny filter but is a hell of a lot cheaper than tranny...

I'm looking at possibly changing the gearing in my rear end in a 1998 1500 4x4, my question is will I also have to change the gearing in the front axle? The truck does not have locking differentials....

If you do a lift like that you will have to regear your rear end. The 4.8 is underpowered in a stock truck and trying to turning wheels of that size will require a ton of power. I would be surprised...

Your truck with the 305 (5.0 liter) is famous for intake gasket problems. You won't see any problems untill it is to late. You are probably looking at a $500 bill from a shop to do the intake...

None of my gm vehicles will ever run dex cool again.On my 98 1500 I changed intake gaskets twice in 100,000 and three water pumps in that time. After ditching the dex cool and putting on another...

Pressure test it but I would put money on it being the intake gaskets very common in that motor. Never had the problem come back after switching away from dex cool.

I did mine on my 1998 in about 10 hours and put in new plugs, wires, distributo cap and rotor while I had the truck apart. By yourself a repair manual- I used a haynes and it helped out quite a bit....

I've got grease fittings on my universals to grease. But yours are probably sealed- Otherwise I change all the fluids in my drivetrain including transmission every two years or about 40,000 miles....

What year is the truck- if you got a 350 or 305 and still have the ****ty dex cool in it you either need new intake or head gaskets. After changing them fill with regular green antifreeze- solved all...

If you still have the stock gm dex cool I can just about guarantee the gasket is shot. That dex cool is pure ****. The first thing I do now when I get a gm vehicle is flush the dex cool **** out....

The best tip I found was slowing down on the interstate I used to drive 73 on the insterstate and would always get 14 with my 1998 k1500 with the 350, now I keep it at about 67 mph and my last trip...

I would stay away from them if you live in a climate where they put salt on the roads, a buddy of mine has a set on a 2003 s10 zr2 and when you look up under the fender flares it is nothing but rust....
