88 GMC sierra 4x4, running lights inoperative
 

I need help with my running lights. They do not work at all, with or without the headlights. The interior dash lights also do not work. Headlights work fine as do the brake lights, and signals. I checked all the fuses, and they are fine. I don't know where to go next. Anyone have any suggestions?

I would check to make sure the switch on the dash is sending power.

how would I do that?

Pull the surround that goes around the instrument panel where the switch is housed. Get a test light and make sure that there is power coming in to the switch (which there must be b/c your headlights are working). Then make sure when you push the button down to the first click that you have power going to a different wire. I am not sure the color but if you test them all (there are only a few there) there should a wire that gets power when the switch is pushed to the first click and then another wire (headlight) that gets power when it is pushed all the way down. Thanks very much for your advise. It was right on, after I checked the switch, there are 7 pins coming out of it, and I found one of the pins had a bad connection. Once I fixed that, everything works the way it is suppose to.
