99 Silverado 1500
 

Hey guys, Im lookin to buy a 99 Silverado. I have one that Im pretty sure is good, its all clean no rust, kind of high mileage but not that big of a deal to me. The main problem I have with it at the moment is that I was taking a closer look of the pictures they have online and I saw tape on the gauge cluster. Now Ive never owned a Silverado so Im not sure what its covering up.

Can anyone tell me whats behind the tape? I emailed and called the dealer but they just beat around the bush and told me to come look at it in person but I dont want to drive 45 minutes just to find out the check engine light is on

I realize that this is an old thread and that the OP has not been back. I just thought I would post the answer for anyone who sees this and needs/wants the information.

I have a 1999 Silverado and the indicator in that position is the "Check Engine" light with the "ABS" light just to the right.
