Hi, new member here. Looking for new/different set of tires for our '82 3/4T Chevy, currently has stock LT235/85 R16 on the 8 X 6.5 lug wheels. Actually, one of the tires is a 245/75, but that's a sore subject and hope to correct. Sorry, do not know wheel width but should be stock and will go look that up next. Trying to figure what to look for to replace with possibly used set. Found a set of 8 lug 265/70 R17 rims with tires, getting date code checked, told came off 2010 Chevy and he thinks had rear drum breaks. Would they fit/work? If do go to 17", how wide for wheel well? Would be more comfortable with same or similar size, but reluctant to drive truck very far so mounted and balanced is attractive option. And of course the only way to go to 17". Still looking for 16", maybe will luck into a set of take-offs at wrecking yard like did for the Aerostar. But that is strictly a lucky visit chance.
Truck is used almost exclusively for short trips to pick up load (1T) of stove pellets, no major off road unless you count our 800' gravel drive.
